Polyester Plates Have Come of Age

Presstek’s, ABDick brand polyester digital plates have a high resolution emulsion capable of producing high contrast, sharp images; and they can be run on virtually all offset presses. By exhibiting excellent water receptivity, they are compatible with a wide variety of dampening systems and inks including oil, rubber and soy base, as well as acrylic, magnetic and web press inks.

DPM users have a choice of two premium plate and chemistry systems: MEGAPRO or MEGAPrint. Each includes its own plates, activator, stabilizer and fountain solutions which are designed to be used together as a system to produce optimum results.

Polyester plate material is available in two grades. Both MEGAPRO and MEGAPrint 5 mil and 8 mil plates provide run lengths up to 20,000 impressions. Also available is a lower cost 7 mil paper-based material (MEGAPRO only) for runs up to 10,000. This choice lets users select the most suitable material for individual presses and print applications.

Polyplate Material

MEGAprint, MegaPro and QUIKsilver (SilverMaster) plate materials are Direct-to-Plate analog materials for production of first-generation printing plate directly from paste-up boards, eliminating the costly steps of conventional plate making. MEGAPrint, MEGAPro and QUIKSilver (SilverMaster) are compatible with most Camera Platemakers in use today and available in paper and polyester bases for up to 25,000 impressions.

Available in 5mil 7mil and 8mil Thickness and various widths.

CTP Plates

Presstek’s thermal CTP plates deliver quality, productivity and predictable results.

Presstek invented and brought to market the world’s first chemistry-free CTP plate. Now in its 5th generation, Presstek's patented thermal ablation laser imaging and thermal plate technology is recognized for producing high-resolution images and superior on-press performance.

Presstek’s CTP plates are daylight-safe, require no chemical processing, are non-photosensitive and require no special handling. Independence from darkroom conditions and elimination of variables in exposure, chemical stability and manual intervention mean fast, accurate, repeatable results.

Presstek’s digital plate products for CTP applications include Anthem Pro, Aurora Pro, Freedom Pro and PearlDry. Plates are available in 2-, 4-, and 8-page formats.

DI Plates - Heidelberg / Presstek

PearlDry Plates were first implemented on the Heidelberg Quickmaster DI® in 1995, and Presstek continues to make improvements in plate design and manufacturing processes. PearlDry plate material is supplied in polyester-backed spools that contain 28 or 36 plates. This innovative plate design-working in conjunction with Presstek's laser imaging system-results in an optimized DI press that delivers high-quality output and a high degree of consistency and durability.

PearlDry plates are also environmentally friendly. The thermal laser imaging process eliminates hazardous waste associated with conventional lithographic plate production. The non-photographic plates eliminate the disposal problems and costs associated with processing chemistry. Since it is a waterless plate system, fountain and alcohol substitutes are also eliminated.
